Information We Collect
We basically collect two types of information. These are:
- Personal Information
- Anonymous Information
Personal information is anything that helps directly identify an individual, such as name, address, cell phone number, email address. It is your decision whether to provide this information.
Anonymous Information is anything that doesn't directly or indirectly identify an individual. For example, what browser you’re using.
We also aggregate this information to establish trends and provide insights into our business. But we do this without revealing Personal Information.
Why Do We Collect This Information?
We only ask for your Personal Information to provide a service for you. Examples might be when you want to buy a product, sign up for our newsletter or ask a question.
The information you are asked for varies depending on what you are trying to do. For example, signing up for a newsletter only requires your first name and email address. Whereas purchasing a new vacuum cleaner requires a little more.
A lot of the information we collect is anonymous. It’s the sort of data that physical devices, web browsers, web servers, and associated software typically make available. This includes types of device, browser version, referring site, and pages viewed.
A-1’s purpose in collecting this type of information is to understand how you use our website and improve it to serve you better.
Some examples of the type of information we collect are.
- Registration information when you sign up for an account or enter a promotion.
- Transaction information when you use one of our services or buy something from us.
- Details you provide when you ask us questions either by calling us, emailing us, or using one of our website contact forms.
- Activity, usage, and device data when you visit our site. This might include what pages you might have accessed, how long you were on the site, and your preferences.
- General location information provided by your mobile or other device using beaconing technologies, IP address, or another identifier where it is legal and ethical to collect this data.
- Still or video images when you visit our physical store
- Details on the most popular pages on our website, what spam we get on our Contact Forms, how many people use cell phones to contact us.
How Long Do We Keep Information?
It varies. Contact Form information is kept for a month for customer service purposes. But then it is deleted. We don't use this information for marketing.
Our policy is the same for emails. Our other retention periods are as follows:
- Sales information - fifteen years.
- Analytics information - three years.
- Warranty information - the length of the warranty period.
